Lion & Ram Studio Engagement Photography

Engagement sessions are a perfect pre-wedding icebreaker when working with a couple for the first time. It’s so important to establish a cadence between yourselves and your photographer so that you can develop a comfort level with each other. I am like a second mom to my couples and try to calm their nerves throughout every session.

That’s why I include engagement sessions for free for all of my booked wedding couples.

Emily wanted a dreamy, warm edit for her photos with rich colors which was a departure from my normal editing style, and I love it!

Emily and Jacob booked The Brightside in Dayton for their September wedding and I share their love for the industrial vibe. They preferred an indoor studio for their engagement session, so I found Lion & Ram Studios in Hamilton. Their Addison studio was a perfect match for their style.

The studio is open on Sundays which is when I do most of my engagement sessions and I was excited at how simple the booking process was!

It’s a win for me at the end of it to hear the couple say “that was actually FUN!” Going into the session I let the couples KNOW that there will be awkward moments and to just lean into it.

Clearly Emily and Jacob were pros by the end of our session. It also pushed me into a darker, warmer editing style which I love.

I provide all of my couples with my engagement photography eBook with tips to help them prepare for their day. This answers a lot of the questions about posing, what to do with their hands, and why being awkward is totally ok. Those moments often produce the most authentic smiles.

All of my engagement shoots for 2022 are nearly complete and all the galleries have been delivered. I have one more for an out of town couple at the end of July and it will be amazing!
